You know, I’m not sure I agree with this guy, but I don’t see why he’s getting thumbs down for this comment. Even if I disagree, it’s not disrespectful and it’s a damn site more interesting than most other comments. Especially to hear from someone who grew up with it.
And I’ll definitely agree that he was huge. He was one of the biggest draws at Woodstock (and he made it worth it, too).

1967 – amazingly Jimi and this kind of music peaked, right here and the year after. Great song …

Just for the record, crashnburn240 is talkin’ thru his ass. Hendrix was HUGE when he was alive. He exploded onto the music scene. I was 14 when the first album came out. But drugs eventually destroyed his innovation & creativity. Most of us ‘root enthusiasts’ stopped listening with Crosstown Traffic; considered a pussy commercial tune at the time. By then, many other guitarists were blowin’ him outa the water. With some artists, drugs enhanced creativity (Lennon, Page, Clapton etc.) ; not him.

You are an illiterate and uneducated village idiot. If there is any sincerity and/or humanity in you get your books and maps out you stupid idiot. #1: Flamenco didn’t arrive, it was developed by us minorities, and by the same token was klezmer, and if you wish to take issue with any of this, I believe I write this with the support of my fellow southern Mediterraneans, read and play. Should you desire guidance, you are more than welcome, but your recent writings disgust me as a musician, u r not!

Your statements are your opinion. And please don’t say every musician, because you don’t know this for a fact. Please go to the library and check out a book about him. If you knew him quite well, please disregard my comments.

Wow that was kinda retarded as a comeback but everyone has failed to spot the point that hendrix wasn’t that big while he was alive. Like nirvana and the like he became really popular after he died. Every musician is exploited by record labels have you not yet realized this?
